Jeff Ver Sluis
Our deepest sympathy goes out to Barb Ver Sluis, one of our Pine Lake residents, on the loss of her husband Jeff, on Monday, December 2, 2013; and our sympathy also to her family.
Jeff
went home to be with his Lord and Savior, following a short, valiant
battle with cancer. Jeff was born November 4, 1953 in Kalamazoo, the
son of the late Arthur and Dorothea (Wright) Ver Sluis and was a
resident of Plainwell for several years. As a young boy, he worked
in his family's celery business and later for the Ver Sluis Freezer
in Martin. After working as an apprentice, he opened his own HVAC& R
company in 1981, called All-Temp Specialties, which became a highly
respected company in the Kalamazoo area. Jeff's hobby was genealogy,
spending many hours gathering and verifying information about his
family. Jeff was a strongly devoted and dedicated husband, father
and grandfather to his family, which includes his wife, Barbara (Sinkler)
Ver Sluis of Plainwell; his children, Suzanna Ver Sluis of Long
Island, NY, Michael Ver Sluis of Plainwell, Rachael Ver Sluis
(Marvin Davis) of Kalamazoo; a very special grandson, Drake Arthur
Davis; Judy Merrifield, the mother of his children; brothers, Tim
Ver Sluis and Mark (June) Ver Sluis all of Kalamazoo; and several
nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Thursday, December
5, 2013 at 11:00 at Centerpoint Church, 2345 N. 10th St.
