Lloyd Pennington, age 61 of Hastings, passed away April 25, 2017 at his home
surrounded by his family.
Mike was born January 12, 1956 in Hastings, Michigan, the son of Lloyd and
Susan (Janose) Pennington Jr. He graduated from Hastings High School, class
of 1974. Mike was co-owner and operator of Pennington Construction with his
brother Steve for the past 40 years. He married Mary Jasperse on April 8,
1989.
Mary Helen Pennington, age 66 of Hastings,
Michigan, passed away on February 9, 2021. She was born on October 26, 1954
in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Leon and Crystene (Lentz)
Jasperse.
Mary was a 1972 graduate of Ottawa Hills High School. On April 8, 1989, she married Michael Pennington, and they enjoyed 28 years together until his death in 2017. Mary worked as a paraprofessional at Star School and Southeastern Elementary for 17 years. Mary enjoyed gambling with her friends, couples bowling on Saturdays once a month, boating on Pine Lake in the Summers, the Grandparents Program at Southeastern Elementary, Crossword Puzzles, Sudoku, and spending time with friends and family.
Mike loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, boating and golf. He enjoyed watching NASCAR on Sundays, enjoyed bowling, especially the couples bowling league that he and Mary bowled on for many years. Mike and Mary also loved spending summers at Pine Lake. You could often see them tied up with a group of pontoons near Twin Island. He and Mary enjoyed vacations to Mexico, going to the Casinos and spending time with family and friends.
Mike and Mary are survived by their daughters, Melissa Pennington and Christina (Rob) Yattaw, grandchildren, Brianna, Matthew and Christopher, mother, Susan Pennington, brothers, Steve (Bev) Pennington, and Joe Pennington, sisters, Sandy (David) Nichols, and Teresa (Jay) Beckwith as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
